Who is “LegallyBrownie”?

As a May 2018 graduate, Tyler Lynne Williams, Esq. aka “LegallyBrownie” is originally from the Washington-DC Metropolitan area. Before attending Charleston School of Law, Tyler attended the University of Maryland (UMD) where she majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice and minored in Leadership Studies. Tyler was also a UMD competitive and game day cheerleader. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 2015, Tyler decided to come to Charleston, South Carolina to attend law school.

While at Charleston School of Law, Tyler was extremely active on campus. She was a Student Ambassador, Student Bar Association Supreme Court Justice, Legal Research and Writing Senior Fellow, Barbri Representative, Member of Honor Council, and President of the South Carolina Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers. Tyler was also a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, where she was named the 2016 Internal Competition Champion and Best Overall Advocate.

Tyler’s leadership and dedication to law helped her receive 2 prestigious awards at graduation. One being the Arthur G. Howe Trial Advocacy Award presented by the South Carolina Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the other being inducted into The Forensic Club, a law institute established in 1825 and chartered at the Charleston School of Law in 2003. Tyler was also awarded a Pro Bono Award for completing more than 100 hours of free legal service during her time in law school.

As an attorney, Tyler has continued giving back by acting as an Adjunct Professor at Charleston School of Law for a 2019 Maymester course on Public Policy, where her students had the opportunity to present their solutions on public policy issues to United States Representative Joe Cunningham. Tyler has also coached a 2019 Charleston School of Law Trial Advocacy team to historic accomplishments, by making the semi-finals as the second seeded team against sixteen other teams at the 2019 American Association for Justice Student Trial Competition. In 2020, Tyler was named a Top 40 under 40 lawyer by the National Bar Association after a rigorous vetting and nomination process. Tyler had the incredible opportunity to compete in the 2021 Miss South Carolina USA pageant, where she placed in the Top 10 and won Miss Congeniality 2021. Tyler is currently practicing employment and labor law, state and local government law, civil litigation, and higher education law at a firm in Charlotte, NC. Tyler is licensed to practice in South Carolina State Court, North Carolina State Court, United States District Court of South Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In addition to practicing law, Tyler is also the Founder and CEO of LegalEEE, a legal mentoring program designed to prepare pre-law students, law students, and new attorneys for a promising career in law. Tyler was crowned Miss South Carolina International 2022 and competed for Miss International in July 2022 where she placed in the Top 10 and won Miss Congeniality. Most recently, Tyler was crowned Miss North Carolina International 2023 and placed Top 10 and won Miss Congeniality again at Miss International 2023. Additionally, in 2024 Tyler was named Top 40 under 40 by the National Black Lawyers Association.
